Thank you to all Minnesotans who already got your shots.

Your decision to get vaccinated has helped protect your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. Together, we have made so much progress in our fight against COVID-19. Now we are at a critical point in the pandemic, and there is a new sense of urgency in our response. The highly contagious Delta variant is pushing cases up across the country, including here in Minnesota. As we look forward to the State Fair and students returning to in-person learning, we need to do everything we can to prevent a new wave.

If you are already vaccinated, you can still help!

Here are three simple things you can do to encourage others to get vaccinated against COVID-19:

  1. Share your vaccination status on social media, along with why you got vaccinated and how it has improved your life.

  2. Help others find vaccines near them using CDC’s online vaccine finder.

  3. Tell them about Minnesota’s new Get Vaccinated. Get $100. incentive program, which goes through August 15.

Minnesotans who get their first COVID-19 vaccine dose between July 30 and August 15 are eligible to receive a $100 Visa gift card.

This offer is open to everyone 12 years of age and older. People can visit Minnesota Rewards: Get vaccinated, get $100 or call 833-431-2053 to apply or learn more about the program.

Reward requests must be submitted online or by phone by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 15. It may take up to five weeks for gift cards to be delivered.

Become a Vaccine Advocate.

There is a lot of information floating around about COVID-19 vaccines, and it’s normal for people to have concerns or questions. YOU are a trusted resource to the people you know! If you are already vaccinated, talking about why you made that choice and sharing information from reliable sources can help others feel more comfortable getting their shots. Not sure what to say? Check out these resources:

  • CDC’s guide How to talk about COVID-19 Vaccines with your friends and family can get you started. Remember to share your positive experience of getting vaccinated, ask open-ended questions, and listen with empathy.

  • The Vaccine Advocate Toolkit from Minnesota Department of Health includes valuable information and resources, including fact sheets you can print or share digitally, and ideas for social media posts.

  • Mayo Clinic’s COVID-19 vaccines: Get the facts addresses some of the most common concerns about COVID-19 vaccines.

  • Anyone can call the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Public Hotline at 833-431-2053 to ask questions or to get help finding a vaccine. Calls are answered Monday through Friday 9 a.m.–7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., and operators speak multiple languages.

Getting vaccinated is safe, easy, and convenient.

Vaccines are the most effective tool we have at fighting COVID-19. Pharmacies, medical clinics, local public health departments, and other providers across Minnesota have vaccines now. Appointments are widely available, and walk-ins are welcome at many locations. Everyone 12 and over is eligible. You do not have to pay to get vaccinated, and you do not need to show ID, health insurance, or proof of citizenship. These resources are helpful if you’re looking for a vaccine for yourself or someone else:

  • CDC’s vaccine finder lets you search based on the brand you need (for example, a Pfizer vaccine for a teen) and how far you can travel.

  • Visit MN COVID-19 Response | Find Vaccine Locations to find a provider near your city or ZIP.

Roll up your sleeves, Minnesota!
